So, we got this cool Beaba baby cooker as a baby shower present, and I love it! I am a babyfood making fool. It is easy to use, quick, and best of all, I know exactly what is in it, and what I am giving to Violet, which is just pure veggies and fruit. Now, I know that for convenience and time, I will buy jars of baby food. But, when you compare the price as well as how vibrant and colorful the homemade baby food is when compared to store bought, it is definitely a win-win. We are doing green veggies first, then orange and yellow veggies, and then fruit last. Hopefully this will help develop her taste for green veggies. ( I may be having wishful thinking, but at least we are trying, right?). Violet tried spinach for the first time yesterday. It was quite funny to watch. She took many bites at first, but then after a couple minutes she started acting like it was the worst thing ever. She tried it again today, and ate a little more but eventually turned her head and refused any more bites. We are trying peas, green beans and then asparagus over the next couple weeks. We will let you know how that goes. Violet is quickly outgrowing her bumbo, so we plan to get a high chair in the next week or two hopefully, as well as a new car seat, because Vi only has 3 pounds to go until she will outgrow her seat. And as you know, mommy is a bit of a car seat-crazed person. (But in my defense, if you went through training to become a car seat technician and saw all that I see in the ED, you would be too!!)
We had a nice weekend, not too much going on. Violet and I had a fun day. We went to church, and Violet made it through almost the whole service before she was ready to eat. She was loving all the people, especially if any guys said hi to her, she was such a flirt. Daddy, I think we are in trouble...Then we ran some errands while Ev spent all day putting a new back door on our storage shed. Thanks to Jason for spending your whole day helping! Violet went to bed about 6:45 tonight, and I have just been finishing up making and freezing food for her, doing laundry, getting ready for the week, etc. I hope everyone had a restful weekend! We are excited for Thursday when we get to hang with Auntie Sandi and cousins Kael and Gage since they are on Spring Break! XOXO...

6 months
Sorry to be so out of the loop. Working full time and trying to do everything else really takes up lots of time!! Hopefully this post won't drag on too long, ha! Violet had her 6 month check up last Friday. Here are the stats: she is now 19 lbs, and 27 inches tall!! She is growing, growing, growing! Both her height and weight are in the 95th percentile. What is Violet up to at 6 months?
-She is still sleeping great at night, about 12 hrs. She has recently started to wake up in the middle of the night, but she eventually falls back asleep.
-She is getting better about daytime naps.
-She is getting so strong. She isn't sitting up on her own yet, but she definitely likes to be in the sitting up position most of the time.]
-She LOVES her jumperoo. In fact, when you hold her. she loves to bounce her legs and jump up and down, it always makes her smile.
-She is also enjoying her exersaucer. She likes to check out all the toys and thinks it is fun to be able to spin around.
-She is a drooling maniac! She soaks many bibs daily with all her drool.
-Her hands are always in her mouth. Poor baby's hands are so red and chapped because they are always wet. A friend suggested some Hylands teething tablets. I have been giving her those and they do seem to help her. I broke down today and gave her tylenol though, b/c she seemed to really be having mouth pain, and we have had such a great afternoon!
-She still LOVES being outside. On the days when I am off work, I try to always take her on a walk, or sometimes two. We have been enjoying some really nice weather. I know the yucky Texas heat is just around the corner, so I am trying to get outside with V as much as possible. I think if we just stayed outside all day, she would be happy.
-She is not really so into rice cereal, but we gave her oatmeal and she seems to like that so much better. I will be busting out the baby cooker this week. Our plan is to start the green veggies first, then orange, and do fruits last. I can't wait to see her face when she eats her first bite of real food! I will have the camera ready for sure.
Violet has been dealing with her first little virus. She has a runny nose, cough and congestion. She has even been snoring a bit at night. She has also been pulling on her ear a bit. Her doc said her ears looked good, no infection, but to just watch her carefully. She cries when she sees me get the bulb syringe out for her poor little nose. I feel pretty bad too: congestion, cough, sore throat, etc, must be RSV, ha! I am learning as a mommy that it doesn't really matter if I am sick, the show must go on, so to speak...I got to take a couple little naps today, so that helps me feel more human. I struggle with Mondays after I work the weekend, b/c I get about 3 hours of sleep before Violet wakes up, and it is sure hard to get going. I love my job, of course I would rather be a stay at home mommy with Violet, though. I know that I should not complain, because I know people who are struggling with infertility and would give up many hours of sleep to get to have a baby. Sometimes I just forget to see the big picture, and I also need to vent at times! Having Violet is such a blessing and is so worth the lack of sleep and hard work. I am trying to relax more and enjoy it instead of stressing so much about the details (i.e laundry, doing the dishes, etc). I feel like I am trying to be super mommy and super wife, but I just can't do it all. I am so thankful to have help from family, and to have Evan, who puts up with my tears, and being neglected at times. He is such a good daddy, I never get tired of seeing how happy Vi gets when she is around him! Hope everyone has a good week, and take a few minutes for yourself to relax and breathe...XOXO.
Yummy omie!! (as Kael used to call his oatmeal, hehe)
