perfect

I LOVE the song "Perfect People" by Natalie Grant. What an amazing artist. I tear up almost every time I hear this song. I think it is God's way of reminding me that HE alone is in control of my life, and when I lose sight, I am reminded that HIS plan is the perfect plan for my life. I hope you enjoy the lyrics. I am having "one of those" days today and needed a little encouragement, I figured you could too!

Never let 'em see you when you're breaking
Never let 'em see you when you fall
That's how we live and that's how we try
Tell the world you've got it all together
Never let them see what's underneath
Cover it up with a crooked smile
But it only lasts for a little while

[CHORUS:]
There's no such thing as perfect people
There's no such thing as a perfect life
So come as you are, broken and scared
Lift up your heart and be amazed
And be changed by a perfect God

Suddenly it's like a weight is lifted
When you hear the words that you are loved
He knows where you are and where you've been
And you never have to go there again

[CHORUS]

Who lived and died to give new life
To heal our imperfections
So look up and see out let grace be enough

This week.

Wondering what we have been doing this week? Well, not too much, just sitting up

and enjoying blueberries! Hope you have a great weekend!

Lunch with mommy's friends

My "little sis" Ashley (chi-o little sis)was in Dallas for a conference last week. Violet and I had lunch with her and sweet Emily, another sorority sister. I have know Ashley and Emily for a long time. It was so fun to see them again, because it was like no time had passed, we just picked up where we left off. I miss just being able to see my friends whenever I want, the miles between everyone are definitely hard! I am so glad that I was able to spend time with some awesome girls, and that Violet had a chance to meet them!

Attempt at a group shot, Violet was NOT having it!

Hanging with Ashley.

Snuggling with Emily.

Visit from Sheila and John

Ev's Aunt Sheila and Uncle John were in town for Easter! It was Violet's first time to meet them, and they had so much fun together. Violet even spent two nights at Grammy's house so she could see them! The pics below are from the first night they arrived, we were able to meet them for dinner.

Latest happenings/7 months

So, tomorrow, Miss V will be 7 months old!! I can't believe it either. Here is what Violet is up to at 7 months old:
-Still sleeping about 12 hours at night, with a few naps during the day.
-She is a great eater. So far she has had spinach, green peas, green beans, asparagus, broccoli and carrots. She is going to try squash and sweet potatoes next.
-She is such a roly-poly. She is all over the place, rolling over and over. I took the bumpers out of her crib due to some mommy panic. She frequently sleeps on her tummy now too.
-She still loves her aquarium and watches it every night as she is falling asleep.
-She LOVES swinging outside! She is so happy when the wind is blowing, even in her face, she just smiles and laughs.
-She is really trying to sit up. She can sit unsupported for a few seconds before falling over. (but when you are trying to feed her a bottle and she is trying to sit up, it is a little "challenging" ha!)
-She is officially out of her infant car seat. I have to say it was bittersweet putting her new car seat in the car...
-She is babbling up a storm!
-No teeth yet, but her little hands are ALWAYS in her mouth.
-She is SO much fun!!

We have been staying busy lately. Ev is in his busiest time of year right now, which means we don't really see him much. Violet has been spending some time at Grandma and Grandpa Newbold's house and she has so much fun over there. I got to go over there during Kael and Gage's spring break, and it was great to see them. Well, I am off to bed. Hope everyone has a great Easter!! We are so blessed that Jesus chose suffering to end our suffering!! XOXO, Meggie.

Busy playing at Grandma's house.

Playtime with Auntie Amy.

Talking to Gage, she LOVES her cousins!

Adventures in baby food making!!

So, we got this cool Beaba baby cooker as a baby shower present, and I love it! I am a babyfood making fool. It is easy to use, quick, and best of all, I know exactly what is in it, and what I am giving to Violet, which is just pure veggies and fruit. Now, I know that for convenience and time, I will buy jars of baby food. But, when you compare the price as well as how vibrant and colorful the homemade baby food is when compared to store bought, it is definitely a win-win. We are doing green veggies first, then orange and yellow veggies, and then fruit last. Hopefully this will help develop her taste for green veggies. ( I may be having wishful thinking, but at least we are trying, right?). Violet tried spinach for the first time yesterday. It was quite funny to watch. She took many bites at first, but then after a couple minutes she started acting like it was the worst thing ever. She tried it again today, and ate a little more but eventually turned her head and refused any more bites. We are trying peas, green beans and then asparagus over the next couple weeks. We will let you know how that goes. Violet is quickly outgrowing her bumbo, so we plan to get a high chair in the next week or two hopefully, as well as a new car seat, because Vi only has 3 pounds to go until she will outgrow her seat. And as you know, mommy is a bit of a car seat-crazed person. (But in my defense, if you went through training to become a car seat technician and saw all that I see in the ED, you would be too!!)
We had a nice weekend, not too much going on. Violet and I had a fun day. We went to church, and Violet made it through almost the whole service before she was ready to eat. She was loving all the people, especially if any guys said hi to her, she was such a flirt. Daddy, I think we are in trouble...Then we ran some errands while Ev spent all day putting a new back door on our storage shed. Thanks to Jason for spending your whole day helping! Violet went to bed about 6:45 tonight, and I have just been finishing up making and freezing food for her, doing laundry, getting ready for the week, etc. I hope everyone had a restful weekend! We are excited for Thursday when we get to hang with Auntie Sandi and cousins Kael and Gage since they are on Spring Break! XOXO...
